As I was hoovering the stairs today I picked up the cleaning machine from underneath to move it down a step. The brushes grasped my fingers and attempted to wrap them round the rollers in preparation of sucking them up the tube. Fortunately my fingers are too fat to wrap round the roller, The roller screamed to a halt and I resisted the temptation to copy it.
Later I opened a Christmas gift which also had a roller. I read the instruction booklet which was eleven pages long and had seventeen warning messages about the dangers of using a pedicure device. I used it anyway. It was less painful than the hoover.
Thinking about things that turn, I remembered a Bible verse from James 1 verse 17. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." What that means to a theologian is a matter for debate, but as a simple woman who sees God in many things, I was just pleased that he wont give me any rubbish gifts and he wont turn his back on me.
