A close shave

I like to look out for good shampoo that people have left in the showers at my leisure club. It is an opportunity to find hair care products that might make my hair look less old and frizzy without me spending a fortune on a whole bottle only to discover it is no better than my normal economy version. This week there was a small bottle of something which looked quite expensive. I was not wearing my spectacles as I had just come from the swimming pool but squinting at the silver writing I could just make out the word shampooing. The contents were quite creamy and smelt acceptable however I do not recommend washing your hair in shaving cream even if it does cost £27 a bottle. I do recommend wearing your glasses if you are going to try putting something you can't quite decipher on your head.

In a further attempt to buy some quality toiletries I noticed that Corsodyl toothpaste was on special offer. I bought a tube and put it on the car seat next to me. I was very relieved to have it there because I was going to a meeting straight from a meal at a restaurant and did not have time to return home and clean my teeth. Opening the tube and squirting some paste on my index finger I rubbed my teeth vigorously. That's when I remembered why it was on special offer. It is the most horrible clinical tasting toothpaste in the world. I swallowed quickly and my throat caught fire as the bleeding gum remedy worked its magic all the way down my gullet.

A Bible verse came to mind as I reflected on my experiences, "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good"
I'm pleased to say that I've looked at God with my glasses on and with them off and have never seen anything but love. I have tasted the blessings of the complete protection of the Almighty and discovered  they are not in the slightest unpalatable.
I should stick with what I know is worth having and stop trying to be a cheapskate.

Toothpaste Spatter

Am I the only person who has taken an electric toothbrush out of their mouth before switching it off? What appears to be a fairly modest vibration manages to throw a million tiny white spots all over a black t-shirt. I also occasionally slaver down my clothes as I undertake my dental ablutions but I am less happy to admit to that. Last week I had failed to notice the white deposits on my shirt until I was fastening my seat belt as I left for work in my car. As I didn't have time to return and change, I grabbed a handy serviette which was on the passenger seat. It was a lovely shade of deep purple and had looked magnificent at the meal table from which I had rescued it. I rubbed at the white blotches until they were almost imperceptible. Checking my stain removing activities I discovered a large purple patch had almost replaced the white marks. There was nothing I could do. I sported the purple motif all day. Regular readers of my blog will not be surprised to know that this failure to remove stains and the propensity to make them worse by my efforts, reminded me of how glad I am that the mess I have made and occasionally still make in my life, is completely washed clean and left stain free because of the forgiveness of Jesus.  John wrote a letter about it in the Bible. He says, "But if we freely admit that we have sinned, we find God utterly reliable and straightforward - he forgives our sins and makes us thoroughly clean from all that is evil." May I highly recommend this wonderfully effective cleaning method.

Squeezy Marmite

Today I discovered that you can get Marmite in a squeezy little Marmite pot shaped bottle.

This is a travesty! You have to get Marmite out with a knife, spread it on your bread etc to your required thickness, then scrape the surplus back on the edge of the jar without getting butter in it.
How can you monitor the thickness if you squeeze it on the bread in a squirt? And, more importantly, how can you get it back in the squeezy little jar if you have overdone it?
I am shocked at the number of things which require squeezing. It never works. Toothpaste is fine until it's half empty, after that it's too much trouble. When the tubes were made of metal you could roll them up and keep the toothpaste moving along nicely but when you try to roll a plastic tube up it just unrolls again leaving you unsure of the amount of toothpaste in the tube, or its whereabouts therein.
Although tomato ketchup is sitting at the entrance to the bottle when you want it, cheaper brands of ketchup leak out all over the cupboard shelf while not being squeezed. I can't speak for Heinz ketchup because I like to buy that in a small glass bottle and wallop it on the bottom in order to dispense an unspecified amount of ketchup onto the side of the plate and the tablecloth, missing the food completely.
Washing up liquid bottles are acceptable but uneconomical when used by the male of the species. It is better to use cheap washing up liquid if you have a man who ever washes up, because men will squirt copious amounts of washing up liquid in the bowl whether it is Fairy or Asda smart price.
Jiff lemon is a success because it's shaped like a lemon and that's just cool.
Women like to be squeezed occasionally, especially by men who love them, but there are times when women hate to be squeezed, especially by men who love them, so it's quite to difficult to gauge.

I'm glad God pours stuff out rather than squeezing it out. It speaks of his generosity and goodness.
You don't have to try and force God to bless you, he's longing to bless you and just waiting for you to ask.
